Waiting List

MHA is in the fortunate position that its products and offerings are considered very attractive and affordable, and thus in high demand. A formal Waiting List exists, and the offer and/or allocation of a Life Right to a cottage or is dealt with strictly in accordance with the order of that Waiting List, and no exceptions are made under any circumstances whatsoever.

The movement of one’s name up the Waiting List is dependent on the cycle of cottages becoming available.

Our Waiting List makes provision for recording an applicant’s preferred village or villages, and there is no restriction in that regard. On being offered accommodation, the applicant may postpone or decline for any reason, and his/her name retains its place on the list, and he/she will be approached with another offer of accommodation (limited to two offers per annum) in the following year and thereafter as agreed.

As the demand for accommodation far outweighs the availability of accommodation units, MHA advises those who wish to place their names on the Waiting List that, bearing in mind that the time between putting one’s name on the list and being offered Life Right accommodation could be 12-15 years, the ideal time to get onto the Waiting List is by age 60. For practical reasons MHA does not accept any applicant onto the Waiting List who is beyond the age of 70 years.

Over the past decade, 20-25 cottages become available each year for Life Right re-sale. Based on the availability of cottages (and more so in the preferred village), it is not possible for MHA to commit itself to providing a cottage to someone on the Waiting List at the stage which matches the Applicant’s plans to move to MHA. Therefore, it is advisable for anyone on or joining the Waiting List to have a ‘Plan B’ via also having his/her name on the waiting list of similar organizations.

It is incumbent upon those on the Waiting List to inform MHA of any changes to personal information and/or to accommodation requirements.

No formal Waiting List exists for our apartments, as those are only allocated to existing occupiers of our village cottages, as and when transition from a cottage to an apartment is desired.
