Annesley Gardens, comprising 50 two-bedroom cottages and a community hall, was completed in 1990, and is situated on Narcissus Street, Westering. The village was named after the maiden name of John Wesley’s mother, Susanna. Some cottages have two garages, some have a single garage and carport.
Sheariton is a 10-cottage complex, across the street from Annesley Gardens. All units offer three bedrooms. It was originally built as a townhouse cluster in 1975, and purchased by MHA in 1991, to be combined with Annesley Gardens. All Sheariton cottages have single garages.
Residents who wish to become involved with activities at the village may volunteer to serve on committees as follows:
Liaison Committee: Members on this committee are the link between residents and management, and assist with some operational functions.
The Caring and Fellowship Committee offers support and care to those who are ill or struggling after a bereavement, or who require some assistance when indisposed or on returning from hospital.
Entertainment Committee: This committee arranges various functions throughout the year, such as celebrations, themed evenings and monthly teas
Croquet Club: Enjoy arranging and participating in regular games.
Gardening Club: Share useful information on gardening.
Braai Committee: This group ensures that the residents enjoy a delicious braai every month.
In this very active village, there is also a Busy Bees crafting group, a well-stocked library on site, as well as a hairdressing service and regular church services. Residents run their own recycling project.
This village also offers a monthly Blood Pressure Clinic, weekly transport to the Walmer Park shopping centre in the MHA bus.
Two-course midday meals are available to residents daily, at a cost which is much less than if they were to prepare meals themselves.
Every cottage has a Fibre connection (linking to an internet service provider is for a resident’s own account)
