Frail Care

  • Registration: Both of our Frail Care homes are registered with the Department of Health and the Department of Social Development, and are regularly inspected by those Departments to ensure that all standards and regulations are complied with and adhered to.
  • Staffing: Our Frail Care units are overseen by the Nursing Services Manager, and each Frail Care unit is supervised by a Unit Manager who is a qualified and experienced professional nurse.   Our staff compliment is supplemented by Professional Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Health Care workers, all of whom are committed to caring for the aged
  • Personal Effects: Apart from necessities such as appropriate clothing and toiletries, residents usually bring with them personal effects such as a TV, radio and wall decorations, and are also encouraged to personalize their room as they wish, perhaps with a favourite chair or piece of furniture as space permits, to create a familiar environment
  • Meals: MHA is responsible for providing tasty and nourishing meals according to dietary needs. Meals are served in the dining room or in a resident’s room, as circumstances dictate, and are included in the monthly Levy
  • Amenities: our Frail Care homes have a communal TV lounge and a sunroom, as well as gardens and access to a library
  • Laundry: Frail Care residents’ laundry is attended to by staff on a daily basis, and this service is included in the monthly Levy
  • Cleaning of the facilities: Our friendly cleaning staff are responsible for ensuring that all rooms and communal areas are hygienically cleaned daily
  • Spiritual Care and Counselling: Ministers from any denomination are encouraged to visit, and to arrange for worship services to be conducted as and when they wish. Some denominations have regular services
  • Safety and Security: A safe, secure environment is provided, with continuous CCTV coverage of all the facilities, and also of the perimeter with 24/7 offsite monitoring, electrified perimeter fencing and automated gates, and residents are linked to an external Armed Response service
  • Visiting Hours: There are no set visiting hours, and family members and friends are encouraged to visit residents as frequently as they wish
  • Monthly Levy: To enable one to occupy a Frail Care bed a monthly Levy is charged, payable each month in advance. Please refer to the Explanations tab on this website, under the Monthly Levy paragraph
  • Short-stay admissions: Short-stay accommodation and caring is provided to any resident of our cottages or apartments who may, for example, wish to avail themselves of Frail Care on discharge from hospital or illness. A stay of up to seven days per annum is included in the residents’ monthly Levy, and is subject to Frail Care beds being available at that time.
